The mission of the Ministry of Music of Palmer Moravian Church is to glorify God through music, to encourage and aid the corporate worship of the congregation, and to provide a music program of the highest possible quality. In an ongoing effort to fulfill this mission, the music department offers a variety of programs for all ages.
Vocal Choirs
The Cherub Choir, ages 4 – grade 2, is an introduction to singing and to a choral experience.
The Songster Choir provides the opportunity for children grades 3 – 8 to continue to grow in musical knowledge and skill as well as introducing hymnody, and the Moravian Book of Worship.
The Chancel Choir provides weekly anthems for worship and is for youth in high school through adults. All the vocal choirs participate in Sunday morning worship on a regular basis.
Handbell Choirs
A program of handbells is offered for grades 3 – adult.
The Star Chimes is the beginning choir for grades 3 – 6. Through the use of hand chimes, children are introduced to basic ringing techniques and music notation.
The Hilltop Ringers is a handbell choir for grades 7 – adult. This choir performs on a regular basis as well as giving an annual spring concert.
The Senior Handbell Choir is a daytime choir and is composed mainly of retired individuals. Primarily for fun and fellowship, this group performs once a year. Previous experience and the ability to read music is not required for participation in any of the bell choirs, although most ringers find it very helpful to have a basic knowledge of music notation.
