The Palmer Moravian Community Church Youth Ministry has grown in leaps and bounds in the past few years. We have not only done many Community Activities, but have been able to enjoy Creation Festival, go snow-tubing, ice skating and experience a Mission trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The Youth of our church are an integral part of our community.
Our youth program at Palmer Moravian consists of two groups, the Lighthouse Club and the Salt Club.
The Lighthouse Club is for those young adults in grades 5-7. We meet every other Sunday of the month from 6:00 to 7 PM. We have activities scheduled for our meetings and also welcome any subject as requested by the participants. These activities include: friendships, family, school, church, and how God works in our lives. We will have game nights, movie nights and a lock-in or two. We will also be asked throughout the course of the year to do things within our church. These opportunities may include packaging Christmas cookies for the shut-ins, serving lunch at the church council meeting, assisting with other group's functions and so on. There will also be some events that take us outside the church such as the Crop Walk, snow tubing, bowling, preparing lunch for shut-ins and youth functions at other churches. We have lots of fun, food and fellowship throughout the year.
Salt Club consists of grades 8-12. We gather every Sunday night from 7-8:30 PM. The ideas for our meetings come from within. We spend whatever time is needed on each topic. We have game nights, movie nights and lock-ins. We do some community service projects throughout the year, such as Safe Harbor, Moravian Hall Square and Project Easton. The Salt Club also hosts a Parent’s Day Out every year. We attend events with youth groups from other churches in the area. We have lots of fun, food and fellowship.
The two groups form relationships by interacting on some of the events. This allows for a smooth transition from Lighthouse into Salt Club. The Youth Sunday Service is led by both groups and other Sunday School attendees. The two groups will also attend Creation Festival at the end of June for five days of music, talk, good times, eating and camping with other area Moravian Church youth.
Various activities are provided so we may pique the interest of any young person. We also ask our youth to invite their friends, family and relatives to meetings and events.
Confirmation Class is held for the 7th and 8th grade and Senior High Sunday School is available for the 9th through 12th grade youth every Sunday while school is in session.
