Holy Communion

The Moravian Church practices an open communion. This means that everyone who professes Christ as Savior of the world and lives a life in relationship with Christ is welcome to participate.

At our traditional worship services, the pastors come to each member of the congregation where they are seated to serve them. After everyone has been served, we partake at the same time, symbolizing our unity in Christ. At our New Horizon worship, we experience communion in many different formats, depending on the season and theme of worship.

Holy Communion is offered in worship on:

  • The Sunday closest to Epiphany
  • The first Sunday in Lent
  • Maundy Thursday evening
  • Easter Sunday
  • Pentecost Sunday
  • The Sunday closest to July 6 (Martyrdom day of John Hus)
  • The Sunday closest to August 13th (Renewal experience of the Moravian Church)
  • The first Sunday in October (World-Wide Communion Sunday)
  • The Sunday closest to November 13th (Jesus as Chief Elder Sunday)
  • The Second Sunday in Advent
